IriDM, NV was established in May 2002 as a subsidiary of PharmaDM, NV. Current shareholders include the co-founders, the KU.Leuven and PharmaDM.

An agreement was signed with the Janssen Research Foundation (JRF) to arrange the transfer of additional plasmids as well as sole licences to 2 patents that resulted from the successful collaboration between the Janssen Research Foundation (JRF) and the laboratory of Prof. Schoofs at K.U. Leuven.

IriDM is currently funded through contract research and will prepare for VC funding in 2004.
